I recently had the opportunity of attending my Chinese friend’s wedding in Hangzhou, mainland China.

I had met HeXiao and XiaoChen at the end of 2014 when they had travelled here to Chiang Mai from Singapore where they both work. They had booked a pre-wedding shoot with me through our dedicated wedding site www.mythaiwedding.com through which we arrange, photograph and video weddings, pre-weddings and other events and, as a result of that day we became firm friends.

Hangzhou was nothing like I expected, at least the centre which is dominated by the famous West Lake. A stunning site with all the surrounding roads shaded as tree lined avenues. I highly recommend a visit.

It was fascinating being a guest at what turned out to be a not 100% traditional Chinese wedding. Yes there were tea ceremonies but the actual wedding had a little bit of the Christian service and picked from Buddhism too. It worked really well!

Not being the main photographer allowed me to get get some really lovely shots from a secondary position and I loved what I captured.

For the entire trip I worked with my SonyA7ii and Leica Summilux 35mm f1.4 fully manual lens and it worked a real treat.
